PM Shehbaz promises to eradicate polio in Pakistan.
The PM praised the government’s polio team for their ongoing efforts to combat the disease during the meeting.
He directed Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath, the Coordinator for National Health, and Polio Focal Person Ayesha Raza Farooq, Secretary of National Health, to visit the regions that had been identified as being most affected by the most recent polio campaign.
Shehbaz, the PM, also directed a third-party evaluation of the anti-polio campaign in order to guarantee its transparency and effectiveness. He highlighted the need for a well-thought out plan that is aimed at averting the immunity gap among the people.
While providing a focus on the ongoing polio eradication campaign, it was also reported on the most recent cases of polio. 41 further polio cases occur in Pakistan, most notably, 25 among persons lacking adequate routine vaccination coverage.
During the briefing, the low risk of polio transmission in the areas with better immunization cover was used to affirm the need to sustain the vaccination campaign.
